Depression is no stranger to me. This piece came during a particularly dark period.
“Melancholia”
Melancholia calls to me.
I’ve failed you in every way.
This isn’t feeling sorry for me,
Just simple truths I have to faceI see the world in abstract forms,
A complex puzzle taunting me.
Reality is not the same for us,
It’s better if you can’t see.Barren trees on dusken plains;
“Autumn” symbolized the heart.
The mirror’s image mocks me, but
Your ghost holds me in the dark.© 2018 Andrew Drennen
